Mumford's Argument Is That War Is the Birth of the Nation State
War as this catalyst for the machine because firstly you have then the mining so on a very standardised at worker level. The civilians if you like that area of things is being standardised by war but what's also brought about from war is the beginning of what we could say is mass consumerism. This militarism leads to mass production of standardization and with this there is an increase in monetary economies.
