Leonard Leonard and Virginia wolf owned the hogarth press. They published their first stories in 19 17, including a modernist short story by katherine mansfield. Mansfield wrote to virginia: "There will never be another woman writer with whom i can talk this way" The two writers were friends but had jealousy toward each other at times.
