Is Dali Manipulating Us for Our Pity and Affection?

Dali completed a painting in 1963 entitled, Portrait of My Dead Brother. It shows a floating head of a young boy overlaid onto a mysterious desert with shadowy figures within its landscape. The portrait of the boy is represented as dots, the way an old newspaper photo would appear if you zoomed in especially close. I personally really like the painting, but it's again a lie. He had a real photo of his real deceased brother he could have used to make or break that painting's message. But despite what you may say about his propensity for lying, the man was brilliant, truly something strange and rare.
