Is There a Tendency to Become Like God?
The tension is between either we want to live like animals and just with radical, you know, hedonism, or we want to become like God. Sultan Nissen condemned as I sometimes see silly commentators say he condemned the West, much as he condemned the communist East. He admired the rule of law on the West. In his speeches to the AFL-CIO in the mid-70s, he praised the generosity and magnanimity of the American people. The same cannot be said for imperfect liberal democracy,. which still has many strengths and still an important respect.
