The Passions of the Christ
Sed Contra: A Podcast of Catholic Theology
Is It Easy for Christ to Refuse the Tendencies of the Devil?
Just because Christ in the desert did not experience an internal inclination to sin like we might, it doesn't make his refusal of the temptations of the devil easy automatically. To go without eating when I could eat, when the possibility is there, which I recognize as a good, there's still suffering involved with that. So we don't want to imagine that Christ had it easy. Again, the reason why he's embracing these defects of soul to begin with is so that he can experience suffering and pain for the sake of our salvation.
