The Starling Girl is one of my favorite films from this year's Sundance Film Festival. The film follows Gem Starling, a 17-year-old struggling to define her place within her fundamentalist Christian community in rural Kentucky. After securing financing on the verge of shooting the COVID pandemic hit, and this film was almost one of the casualties of the pandemic. But as you'll hear in these conversations, the team was able to raise funds again.
