Mao Zedong was a seasoned revolutionary at the top of the Chinese Communist Party. Mao's charisma and leadership qualities gained him many followers, particularly among the country's peasant class. Chang knew if she wanted to get closer to power, she'd need to get close to Mao. She always made sure to get a Fran Rose seat at his lectures.
