Becholite was the first fully synthetic resin or plastic to become commercially successful. It is not derived from plant or animal material, but rather derived from fossil fuels. The advantage over celluloid, which we talked about just before, was that it could be easily molded in just about anything. And one of the things that it was used to make initially, among other things, were telephones and radios.
