The Depth of Penetration of Coloration on the Surface of the Shroud
It's 200 to 500 nanometers, which is not even a number that I can fathom. If you were to just gently graze with a razor blade, you would erase the image of the man forever. This is what Paolo de Lazzaro discovered. So as you say, that is on one side of the shroud, but not on the other.
