The masses designation of an individual as their representative inevitably elevates the aspiring politician to a class position above the constituents whom they ostensibly represent. After this delegation, workers are discouraged from bringing political activity back with them into their lives and workplaces. Not in the least because it is unclear whether labor actions carried out for political reasons or even permitted under U.S. labor law. None of this is meant as an argument against electoral participation to the court. Rather, it is a reminder that the liberal democratic electoral process is loaded with ideological assumptions that can have dangerous political ramifications.
