Is Theology a Science of Theology?

The Middle Ages was a time period in which the Bible played a much larger role than I think we realize. The thing is, when you're reading the biblical commentaries or even sermons on scripture, all of a sudden something might come out that advances a totally unrelated field of human thought. So Aquinas might have to bring in some powerful semantic distinctions or distinctions in logic. And perhaps theology today would do well to go back to something like that and to say, maybe you can't memorize the entire Bible, but you've definitely got to read it repeatedly and thoroughly and frequently.
