Should Parliamentarians Be Able to Recall Themselves?

There are times when Parliament has to be recalled for a wide range of reasons. These include urgent business as well as following the death of a national figure. Previous summer recalls have included withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021, use of chemical weapons in Syria in 2013 and the riots in 2011. Recall is very much in the gift of the government - if they don't want it to happen, it's not going to happen. There is an argument that Parliament should have greater control over its timetable.
