i will say, in my own discipline law, institutional pedigree looms very large. And canadian p h ds are a, frankly, liability at this stage. i've seen letters by scholars without that statue and pedigree be dismissed because they're not considered a big enough name. That's been really, really disturbing to see. It's all wrapped up in this optic of pedigree that's deeply problematic and ultimately exclusionary, a hundred %.
