He was a man of his time. His views reflect basically main stream japanese views throughout that era, where japan is modernizing. He didn't at any point really come out supporting militarism. But on the other hand, he was living in Japan and it would have been hard for him to say we shouldn't be doing this. Youknow, he, he, like anybody in that dos kind of crisis, he kind have just went on with my life and just hoped this war would be over soon.
