The Book of Ecclesiastes Is a Book About Reality in the World
The 19th century Presbyterian minister, James Waddell Alexander said this in speaking of that and enduring our sufferings with joy. While earthly excitement lose their power, those which are heavenly grow stronger and stronger. The book of Ecclesiastes is warning us about the reality of life in a sinful world. If you're breathing your heart is beating, you're getting older every millisecond that clock ticks. Those pleasurable moments of this world tend to decay. They tend to lose value.
