The History of the Lazarado

Public health at this time in the 19th century was an exclusively local and state affair. The federal government had no virtually no role in public health at all before the 1890s really the late 1880s. In 1870, a filthy ship arrived from Jamaica with several crew members who died of yellow fever on board. Some of them died at the last Doritos hospital where they were treated.
