South Africans Aren't Getting a Job in the Foreign Ministry

African policymakers and South African business people are complacent about China. Many Africans who returned from China with university degrees advanced degrees speak the language fluently have an enormous amount of skill in terms of managing relationships with China but are not hired into the foreign ministries or even into many African companies because they don't have the right connections. Almost almost half a million of African students went to China from 2000 to 2020 to study and they came back graduate speaking Chinese walk with Chinese and everything. But when you look at the imprint the impact on China-Africa relationship you don't see it anywhere.
