Tornadoes were not forecast to develop anywhere near us for this day, but a tornado warning went off on my phone. So I tell my son to run out into the backyard and see if he can see it. In five seconds later, I hear him shrieking at the top of his voice: "I see it. I see it." By the time we got close to it, it was spectacular. It was just an incredible event.
2023 has been a record-setting year for tornadoes, and these storms came with barely any warning. So to better understand tornadoes, scientists might need to confront more of these storms head-on.
