Justice department to look into whether there was anything illegal about the rides. Attorney general robert kennedy called it a disgrace and deplorable, but ended up finding that no federal law was being violated. A very small number did stay. Some actually ended up returning to the south. But the majority, like the williams family, ended up moving to boston in search of work.
