Una Tribbins' relationship with Radcliffe Hall endured until his death. She had to make herself small because she didn't want her husband to freak out, which he did. Even when the wife was able to write the book and get it published, she couldn't even really enjoy her success because she had to worry about her husband's ego. There's a line in my book about what does it mean to live every day and second place? And I think that's what these women had to deal with as well.
