The January Jobs Report
The BLS recalculates some population and adjusts for different things. January is always, as you just said, a tricky month in part because there's just huge seasonal changes in employment that they have to seasonally adjust away. I do think though the numbers in January were just so large and so striking it is unlikely that even if you made all sorts of corrections that you still wouldn't end up with something large.
