How to Refer Patients to an Endocrinologist for Hypothyroidism
When do you think patients with hypothyroidism should be referred to an endocrinologist? I found that depending on your comfort there are a number of internists who feel comfortable using T3 others don't it's certainly a time to consider referral. Most pregnancies in the United States are unplanned and most common time for an antenatal visit is right at the end of the first trimester so that dosage increases going to need to be done much earlier than that okay I'll not be starting patients on T3 but if you look at all the evidence and the meta-analysis they haven't shown that overall that there is an effect on parameters that you measure like lipids or binding proteins.
