The Disconnect Between Cryptography and Blockchain
The web through technology enables you to go and do without having to take the exchange's word for it because they have maintained this sort of endless, like consistent chain of trusted data signed database chain. The other key thing here is that it preserves privacy. If you're talking about an exchange, maybe I want to go and validate that my position is okay. But if you're on that same exchange, you don't want me knowing your activity or your positions, right? We need to do this in a way that we're sharing attestations about a portfolio while not revealing information that the other parties shouldn't have access to.
