It uses a backup file made saved to the local file system of a Mac. There are no hooks into the iPhone itself. If you don't want to use iCloud, it works over Wi-Fi and USB. You can also customer store phones to only have some of the data from a backup file. It was handy when I wanted to customer store to my new iPhone and pull over allMy iMessage history is not synced via iCloud.

  - Venmo: Me → Settings → Face ID & PIN → Enable Face ID & PIN
  - Cash: Icon in the upper-right → Privacy & Security → Security Lock
