They would say that african tribesmen who took to prohibitionism in south africa or i in the congoa were just a convert to christianity because of religious missionaries. But yoknowa says these subaltern populations fought tooth and nail for prohibitionism not because they had some sort of unmatched zeal but because they knew better than anybody else what was at stake. And so it didn't take necessarily, a missionary to come in and say, oh, well, look, you know, we've got thiss morally upright position. No, it's just the exact opposite
