I think something that was really helpful for me and maybe was specific to my situation, but was really jumping into pronunciation. One other thing I would say is spending some time in the country with the goal of just learning the language. And then coming back for a year before going to college or doing the same program again. It's hard to change when you're sort of first figuring things out. You kind of make it like a bad habit or bad practice and maybe it'll be hard to change down the road.
