CHAPTER

Rousseau on Comparative Anatomy

Rousseau is an anti-enlightenment thinker. He's based, but he's not his base is pretty thin. I find myself to be generally a skeptic when people make try to make broad sweeping claims based on anthropological evidence. Despite the criticism of Rousseau, they want to be more like Rousseau in telling a different grand narrative from the accepted grand narrative. But they're still giving perposiveness or at least critiquing the perposiveness of history that every single one of these authors engages in. If you take away creative activity and any human activity at all, then humans are not anymore as opposed to being this primary function that all humanity has.
