How to Write Sense of Place

I just wanted to ask about your own writing process about the Cairngorms and you mentioned that's in one of your novels as well. How do you write about a place do you take photos do you write when you're moving do you dictate how do you write sense of place? Yeah yeah it's an interesting one and I've tried different things but learning to look closely is probably the most important thing.
