The term amorite was used to refer to people in the Hellenan hellenic world. There's been a lot of debate going on now about how one should qualify what it was meant by claiming any one as belonging to or holding greek identity. This gets at the question, more broadly speaking, of the way that we're approaching identity in the ancient world today.
