The Importance of Humility

Afrahat and the Christians in his community clearly called Jesus God, but then he explains in what sense they call Jesus God. So, he's agreeing with the Jews that Jesus is a man. He doesn't say has a human nature or became man. He just says, is a man? And while we at the same time honor him and call him God and Lord, yet it is not in any novel fashion that we have him so called nor that we have applied to him a novel name, which they themselves did not employ. Yet it is a sure thing with us that Jesus is our Jesus, our Lord is God, the son of God and the King of Kings son.
