Roxanne Jones: There's definitely an elitist element to this. We've never tried to hide that in this podcast, but I'm going to point out two things here. First of all, he knows that the kind of people who read philosophy books like this do consider ourselves to be extraordinary or exceptional compared to the average person. And therefore he's playing on that in an intellectual way. The other thing is that given that Nietzsche is not truly an aristocrat himself, it is at least a plausible reading to take this as a sort of like a restocracy of the spirit or of the mind.
