The Distracting Effects of Production Value on SNL
I like the fact that you can tell it's kind of a backlot. Is that weird to say? No, totally. I don't think even though it's clearly a backlot, I'm ever like, this is all fake. It still feels very like all of the dynamics of getting the characters are very real. Bob Odenkirk once argued that for SNL, the production value is so high on the show, because it's NBC and an institution.
