The Importance of Understanding the Biosphere
In terms of corporations or in terms of civilization, civilization is just simply the bigger system. Part of it is that we have found the means to cooperate with each other and by cooperating bring together more knowledge for the sake of problem solving than any of us know individually. The things that we're doing that are destructive of the biosphere are definitely some things that we should worry about. But on the one hand, the speed with which the biosphere grows in its inherent problem solving ability is of a time scale much longer than the time scales at which we'll worry.
