The first good movie going experience probably happened on the 28th of December 1895 in Paris. When we talk about the period from when the Nazis took power to the beginning of World War II, it is a very different tale and a less positive one towards Hollywood. The first permanent movie theater, the Nickelodeon was opened in Pittsburgh in 1905. Americans quickly grew to dominate the industry in which you may have caught them.
