The Senate's Decision on Raising the Minimum Wage for COVID Relief

The Senate parliamentarian is going to rule on whether or not raising the minimum wage as part of the COVID relief package falls under spending, revenue, or the federal debt limit. The CBO says that if we were to increase the minimum wage to $15 an hour, it would also increase the deficit by $54 billion because of all the unemployment insurance we'd have to pay out. If she thinks that you can kind of sort of make it a revenue issue, then it will hit the Senate floor and they'll be able to debate. But at this time of recording, I think she's probably going to rule in favor of it.
