The Conservative Insights Against Big Government
John Avlon: One of the key conservative insights deeply grounded in Christian observation is that the government, which is best, is smaller, not larger. He says it's one of the reasons why the motto against big government has been an important part of the conservative movement going all the way back to the 18th century. Avlon: On the left, there is the assumption that bigger is better. It was Woodrow Wilson and others who saw the development of the administrative state as the wave of the future.
