In 17 91, a french chemist, nicholas le blanc, patented the process of making soda ash from salt. Then they combined with fat to make the first soaps. This opened up the door of the fastest growing industry in america by 18 50. But when it came to then using anti bacterial soap, that was from a swiss company called siba girge, who, in 19 62, synthesized and patent the horrible triclosin.
