How Does Topping Up Your E-Sim?
The surveillance angle is the clearest one and the way that mobile carriers themselves profit from that. Even if you're using privacy preserving technologies on top, even if you're use different SIMs, you're constantly tying things back to that unique IMEI which is a very sad thing. And like you mentioned, I hope that we'll have devices that you can change the IMEI, at least of the E-SIM slots, like whenever you want. But it'll be interesting to see where that goes.
