I thought I could feel the aftermath of trauma. But that could have been coming out of my reading. China's great legacy of teachers and respect for teachers. Working with Confucius or at least reaching back to Confucius came all the way to the present day. Those students had much more respect for teachers than the students I had encountered in the United States.
