The Catholic Church Aopted for the Poor
The rise of liberation theology in the 19 sixties and seventies, a time when the catholic church in latin america increasingly stressed its mission as one of social justice. The poor went to other churches that focused on the person of jesus christ. This seem to be the natural consequence of the church trying to merge christianity's concern for the poor with secular, materialist roots of marxism. You not only fail to help the poor in a material way, you also fail to help them in a spiritual way because your theology has basely turned into a marxist political programme.
