Each of the six accused in the case, all of them were violent men. They had extensive criminal histories and they were young too. Criminality was just a way of life for Joseph Steele. In simple terms, these were bad dudes who committed countless acts of violence and brutality. A lot of people doubted whether or not they were responsible for the Doyle family members. The verdicts really had little to do with evidence and testimony presented at trial and really everything to do with the reputations of the accused and what they represented to society.
