The Science of Chess
I'm not here to have a go at physicists or to tell them to do their job properly. I'm just saying that what their job is about is telling us what stuff does, not what stuff is. So because physics is purely mathematical, as we've discussed, it's not really telling us what fundamental reality is. The task of philosophy is about synthesis, taking all of the things we know about in different ways and synthesizing them together into a single unified theory of reality. As long as it has the right mathematical structure, you can get out of that anything could turn out to be true.
