The Role of Marijuana in Addiction

The physical withdrawal that you'll get from opioids, alcohol and benzodiazepines is considered the hallmark of addiction. That's been misconstrued as nicotine being one of the most addictive drugs in the world,. And where does marijuana fit in here? Is there an addictive component to it? Or is there some other category of compulsive use that shouldn't be categorized as addiction?
