The Stage Gate Process in Infrastructure Projects
stage gates are review points in projects especially ones which require significant investment. What the stage gates do is that they enable you to make decisions based on better information derived from more detailed analysis as time progresses. They're generally supported by a written business case which summarizes the outcomes of the phase just completed and seeks approval to proceed to the next phase. This case is then examined by a steering or an investment committee which is supposed to provide a level of governance and oversight with a level of independence.
