The Importance of Poetry in Chinese Literature

The novel Red Poppies was published in 1998. Two years after its publication, Arlai received the Mao-Dorne Literature Prize. In 2004, he completed a new work employing innovative literary techniques. The book selected six relatively independent but interrelated stories to form a unique petal-style structure. This ingenious work was entitled Empty Mountain.
