Praying mantis can hunt small to medium mammals. But it specializes in giant cackroaches that roam the forest and around sides of pomeranians. Since the anthropocene, many large mammals have gone extinct. In their absence, survivor animals like rats will occupy ecological niches vacated by whales and sea lions.
A recent study of tens of thousands of birds has shown that birds are growing smaller over time. It could be due to climate change, and if so, we ought to consider: How else might humans be altering the literal shape of life on Earth — now and in the future?
