Book Review: Babel

Lettie was a very uncomfortable character for me to read as a white woman because I recognized her behaviors in conversations that I've had with people, her reliance on authority. There's a scene where he the older Chinese lover comes to dinner with his unfortunately underage mistress with her family. The way in which this British family treats him is just it is so appalling. You just want to throw up afterwards.
