Ben Bernanke Was Wrong
This year's Laureates in the economic sciences, Ben Bernanke, Douglas Diamond and Philip Dippig have significantly improved our understanding of the role of banks in the economy. The research is why avoiding big collapses is vital. So something seems off to me because Bernanke didn't see the crisis coming at all, or he did see it and downplayed it for political reasons. Either way, it's not good enough for him. And so I want to say surely that's relevant. It doesn't seem like there's a tension there, at least, if not a literal contradiction.
