The Cost of Capture and Storage of C O Two
The cost of capturing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere comes down as firms learn by doing. The biggest area in which we've seen this occurring is actually firms that, you know, producing c o two and then selling it or using it internally within the firm for what's called enhanced oil recovery. Firms don't have an incentive to invest in this technology without either a price or a carrot, right? Or a subsidy. And so there ere kind of two important caviets to my statement: 1) There are markets for this; 2) It can be very effective at reducing CO2 emissions.
