All of the top screenwriters are women. Helen Holmes, who was a action-adventure serial star, she starred in the Hazards of Helen's series. Alasky Blashe, who has her own company, Solax,. Marian Wong, who sets up the Mandarin film company in Oakland, California. In 1913, the first Black-owned studio, the Foster Photo Play Company, also made the first film by a black director with an entirely black cast. This is a period of extraordinary development of female filmmakers.
